COVID SAFE PLAN- updated November 2020
We are so excited to get back to face to face classes at the studio. We have missed seeing our dance family so much and looking forward to seeing all your friendly faces. There are however some changes in the way things are done in the studio, to ensure we keep you, your families and our staff safe. I know you and your children are also so excited to get back, but it is important that you understand and know these changes and talk to your child about these before returning to class.
This document will take you through all the things we are doing to implement a safe environment for everyone at Leaps N Beats Dance.
These practices comply with the current Victorian Government; however, we have implemented a few additional measures to ensure we are doing everything possible that we can do to keep everyone safe whilst we are back at the studio.
Practising good hygiene
- Our studio will be cleaned and disinfected regularly
- High touch surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected frequently this includes; doorknobs, chairs and shared props. Some props we have multiple sets of
- Hand sanitiser is available for all staff, students and parents
- Signage has been installed to advertise hygiene standards
- Staff have been trained to keep these high hygiene standards
Face masks and face coverings
- All people aged 12 years and over are required to wear a face mask or covering
- Students aged under 12 years have the option to wear a face mask or covering
- Teachers are required to wear a face mask or face covering before and after they finish teaching their classes
Social distancing
- Workers, students and visitors are required to maintain a distance of 1.5 metres between themselves and others at all times
- Signs have been displayed in the studio to advertise the social distancing policy.
- Entrances and exits have been arranged for one-way traffic
- Class times have been spaced out, so no two classes cross paths
- Numbers in classes have been limited to ensure safety for all students and teachers
- All children participating in classes aged 4 and under are permitted only one parent in the studio during their class
- All parents with children participating aged 5 years and up must wait in the car while their child is dancing
Before class
- You must arrive to class no more than 5 minutes early.
- Students are asked to arrive to class ready
- When it is time to enter your class, your teacher will let you in the studio
- Each person entering will have their temperature checked and must use hand sanitiser provided upon entry
- Students will enter via the door near the stage and up the stairs
- Teachers will wear their mask when greeting parents, bringing students into the room
During class
- We will try to keep physical contact to a minimum especially with our students younger than 5 years, however incidental touch is inevitable and often necessary to run an effective class with young children
- This will include changing particular aspects of our classes like how we line up for activities or start classes.
- We will use touch for corrections when required and use of hand sanitiser whenever necessary
- We will encourage elbow bumps or foot taps rather than high fives.
- We will use floor markings as a guide
- We will avoid partner work for now
- Teachers may request your child cleans their hands during class where appropriate
After class
- We ask that you leave the studio as quickly as possible, within 5 minutes of finishing class
- We ask that if you need to speak to your teacher after class that you email or call after your lesson
- Teachers will put on their mask as soon as the class has finished
- We ask that you use the hand sanitiser provided at the exit door when leaving
- We ask that you use the exit door leading into the office when leaving, please do so quietly and quickly
Please do not attend the studio if:
- You have been unwell
- You have been contact traced to someone with COVID-19
- You have been advised to self-isolate
- You or anyone in your home is waiting for results from. COVID-19 test
- If you child becomes unwell during class, we will call you and ask you to collect your child
All of the above applies to ANYONE attending the studio for any reason; staff, students, parents and siblings.
Contact tracing
- Teachers must be vigilant about marking the roll and ensuring who is in the studio, parents will be asked to sign in
- Please only come to the studio if you are booked to attend
- In the event that a case of COVID-19 is identified at Leaps N Beats Dance we will comply with any and all directions given to us by the Department of Health and Human Services. This may include providing your contact details for contact tracing purposes.

Don’t bring anyone extra to the studio, if you can avoid it (siblings under 4 years only)

We appreciate you taking the time to read and cooperate with our new safety and hygiene standards. We understand that for some parents and children, these will be a big adjustment. Be sure to chat with your child before returning to the studio, so there is no sudden surprises and they are aware of the changes before they arrive. We will do our best to ensure you and your children feel safe and comfortable whilst in our studio attending our dance classes.
